Maja and Reuben Fowkes

Maja and Reuben Fowkes are curators and art historians who deal with issues of memory, ecology and translocal exchange.

Their work on sustainability and contemporary art has included international conferences, exhibitions, film screenings,and publications.

As part of their Revolution Trilogy, they curated the exhibitions Revolution is not a Garden Party (Budapest/ Manchester/ Norwich/ Zagreb, 2006) and Revolution I Love You (Thessaloniki/Budapest/Birmingham, 2008) and edited the accompanying publications.

Reuben Fowkes is the initiator of the SocialEast Forum on the Art and Visual Culture of Eastern Europe at Manchester Metropolitan University. Maja Fowkes is researching her Ph.D. on East European Land Art at University College London.

Their collaborative practice in the fields of curating, research and writing aims to foster translocal knowledge and experience.
